No, you don’t need a referral to see an Osteopath. If, however, you are claiming your consultation payments under a third party e.g DVA, Worksafe, TAC you may require a GP referral. Our reception staff can advise on third party requirements.
Whilst Osteopathy is not covered by Medicare rebates, it is covered by most Private Health Fund Extras packages. If, however; you have a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan from your GP you may qualify for consultation rebates.* A gap fee applies for all Osteopaths.
Yes we do but please note, all consultations must be paid on the day and then claimed back personally with your third party insurer. It should also be noted that the full consultation fee may not always be covered by third party insurers (check with your insurer).
For your first consultation with Wantirna Osteopathy, here are some things to keep in mind and expect: - You will be required to fill out a Personal Details and Medical History form*; so please allow approximately 10 minutes for this. - It is advisable to bring any relevant scans, test results and reports to assist with a diagnosis. - Your Osteopath will ask you a series of questions regarding your current symptoms and previous relevant medical history. - To be examined, you may be required to remove clothing from the area of concern and any related areas. To maximise the comfort of our patients, a gown can be provided upon request or when necessary. We recommend wearing light-weight clothing and appropriate underwear; like those one would wear to the gym. - After examination, the Osteopath will explain the diagnosis and proposed plan of treatment. - Treatment will be performed at the initial consultation and home exercises (usually stretching) will be prescribed. *A link to this form will be emailed with your appointment confirmation; however, you can also fill this out on the day - so please allow approximately 10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time.
To cancel or reschedule an appointment we require a minimum 2 hours’ notice, (preferably the day before). This allows sufficient time to allocate your appointment to another patient in need. To cancel or reschedule you can call our reception staff on (03) 9800 0388 or via your confirmation email.
